a bit about me:
Welcome to my site!
Here I keep some 'records' of my academic, professional and social activities. This website was made on February 28, 2015, one month into my journey of academic research life. Since then, I have been building it up and hope to share bits and pieces of my world.
I am part of a group working on a project on the global history of commodity trading. Although commodity traders have played, and continues to play, a central role in the global economy, very little is actually known about these companies and how they grew to become so important.
The aim of the project is to study the development of large metal and oil trading companies from 1945 and onwards. In my part of the project I focus on the role of commodity traders in the economic development of South East Asia since about 1980. The main focus will be the elements of commodity trading in relation to the Rise of China (1980-2015).
